Cafés in United Kingdom

No shopping street, tourist attraction or scenic village is complete without its cafes, while the greasy spoon is an established part of the roadside landscape. Providing drinks and light snacks to break up a journey or shopping trip, the cafe is best situated on routes with a lot of traffic, either vehicle or pedestrian. Extra seating can be placed in gardens or other outdoor areas to take advantage of sunny days, but tables and chairs on the pavement outside require a licence. The American-style coffee shop, a relative newcomer to the refreshment scene, is now a common sight on the high street, but more traditional retailers of tea and cake are still doing well too.
