The home of 'genius, billionaire, playboy philanthropist' Tony Stark, otherwise known as Iron Man, and the headquarters for the Avengers team, Stark Tower is an impressive skyscraper located in Midtow Manhattan.
The team, hailed as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, has changed repeatedly over the years. Several characters disappear and then crop up again in later versions of the films or comic books, while new characters are constantly introduced.
Tony Stark, Iron Man was one of the founding members back in 1963, along with Thor, Ant-Man, the Wasp and Hulk. Further 1960s recruits included Captain America, Hawkeye and the Scarlet Witch, while the 1970s and 1980s brought the Black Widow, Wonder Man, Captain Marvel and Thing.
The Heroic Age of Marvel Comics began in 2010, reuniting Iron Man, Captain America and Thor and introducing Spider Woman and Power Woman. Following this came the Fear Itself event, a crossover storyline which sees the Serpent, True Father of all Asgard, awakening from beneath the ocean.
In the 2012 film, Asgardian villain Loki made an arrangement with the otherworldly Other, in which he would exchange the Tesseract, a powerful source of energy, for an army with which to subjugate Earth. Iron Man was a key Avenger in the storyline, along with Captain America, Hulk, Black Widow, Hawkeye and Thor. In 2013 supervillain Thanos attacks the Earth and Avengers Ex Nihilo and White Tiger appear.

Stark Tower is an iconic high-rise building located in 58th and Broadway within the Columbus Circle. It is a world-class commercial facility and a high-profile example of contemporary architecture. Stark Tower consists of the 93-storey Main Tower and two adjacent buildings, the 35-floor South Building and 55-floor North Building.
The top three floors of the Main Building are currently used as the Avengers headquarters, with various other organisations occupying other areas.

The "real" Stark Tower
